Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals is a set of 14 fast and fun movements depicting various animals. Siina Hirvonen, familiar to viewers of the Pikku Kakkonen children’s TV programme, leads us on an exploration of the jungle. What happens when she meets a swan, or a donkey, or a lion, or a monkey? The story fuels the imagination and invites listeners to pay attention to all kinds of musical elements. It is also an introduction to instruments of the orchestra.
